Comprehensive Well-Being and Health Evaluation (Co-WHE)

Whole person and well-being health have become important as society searches for ways to increase resilience and shift from a paradigm of surviving to one of thriving. There is currently, however, no set criteria for how to measure whole-person health and well-being. To remedy this, we are developing the Comprehensive Well-Being and Health Evaluation (Co-WHE), an open source, global, holistic, patient-reported outcome measure that assesses a patient’s initial and progressive well-being and health over time in twelve categories: physical, social, spiritual, emotional, environmental, mental/intellectual, occupational, energy, achievement, engagement, purpose and competence.

Digital Research Data Capture: Sallie® Life U

The Digital Research Data Capture is a collaboration between Life University’s Dr. Sid E. Williams Center for Chiropractic Research and Power of Patients. The Sallie® Life U patient portal provides an opportunity for chiropractic patients to track their health, triggers and habits. While contributing to chiropractic research, the platform provides a powerful patient-driven tool to help patients reach their functional goals and achieve their greatest expression of wellness. This easy-to-use portal will allow patients to gain insights about their health that they can use as a collaborative resource for partnering with their chiropractor and healthcare professionals. Using tools like Sallie® Life U, patients and clinicians can work together to change the healthcare dialogue from a focus on pain and disease to an informed journey toward optimal expression of health.

Patient-Focused Digital Research Data Capture
  • Development, implementation and conduct of studies using digital research data capture
  • De-identified benchmarking results to help advance the profession and care of the patient
  • Clinicans participate in practice-based research studies
  • Implementation of easily deployable WHEEL metrics that can be assessed through the use of digital research data capture
SID-PRO: Seasonal Infectious Disease Patient-Reported Outcomes

Seasonal infectious diseases continue to present a significant health burden, and there are few tools and protocols available that are designed to track changes in symptoms over time. The lack of attention to time-based changes in symptoms is a challenge; this is because vital information regarding therapeutic effectiveness or the need for advanced referral to other healthcare provider could be missed, a problem that became especially clear during COVID-19.

To fill this gap, we are collaborating with ChiroHD to develop the SID-PRO, a patient survey tool that will enable clinicians and researchers to track symptoms of common seasonal infectious diseases over time.

Community Dialogue

As we grow our learning healthcare community, we are developing a range of communication and engagement mechanisms, including:

  • Events and other opportunities for clinicians, patients, researchers and community members to come together, share experiences and needs, and discuss current research.
  • The Monday Research Kickstart and Podcast (coming soon) will provide updates on our research along with tools, resources and assessments that clinicians can use in their practices.
